The standard form is also known as E-notation, the ordinary forms of a natural number, or simply standard index form. It's a method of expressing numbers considered either too small or large to be conveniently written in the traditional digits. Most calculators support scientific notation for working with these numbers. For example, if the number you are dealing with is 3.2 million, the calculator will automatically convert it to millions with the appropriate sign.
